The cantata year

In German only

A reference companion to the cantatas of J. S. Bach based on early Christian pericopes

The term “pericope” (Greek: perikopē ‘section’, from peri- ‘around’ + kopē ‘cutting’) has been used since the 16th century to denote a bible passage used in a church service as a reading or as the basis of a sermon.

Join us on a discovery of selected bible readings – to be read before or after a cantata concert, when listening to one of our recordings, or simply out of interest, or for the time-old purpose of spiritual reflection. The texts offer much for the modern reader to explore.
