Dr. Arthur Godel

Arthur Godel (*1946), Dr. phil. I, is responsible for selecting the speakers for the reflection lectures. He was programme director at DRS 2 – Swiss radio’s cultural station – until his retirement in 2008. He has also been a music editor at the radio station since 1976. Dr Godel studied violin at the Lucerne School of Music and earned his doctoral degree at the University of Zurich with a thesis on Schubert’s last three piano sonatas.

Arthur Godel taught musical analysis for fourteen years at the Department of Musicology at the University of Zurich and, from 1980 to 1992, history of music at the conservatorium in Zurich (today’s Zurich University of the Arts). He regularly gives courses and lectures on literary, historical and musical topics.
