Rudolf Lutz
Rudolf Lutz (born in 1951) is lecturer in improvisation at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Switzerland’s leading university for early music. In collaboration with two colleagues and two assistants, Rudolf Lutz teaches some 35 students in the department for keyboard instruments. At the University for Music, Basle he is lecturer in thorough-bass, and he teaches oratorio studies at the University for Music and Theatre . Mr Lutz is a highly sought specialist in historical improvisation practices for both concerts and workshops.
In St. Gallen, Rudolf Lutz has been organist at the church St. Laurenzen for many years. He was choir director of the Bach-Chor St. Gallen from 1986 to 2008 and conductor of the St. Galler Kammerensemble from 1986 to 2010.
In the year 2006, Rudolf Lutz was named artistic director of the J.S. Bach Foundation, St. Gallen. In collaboration with other musicians, he established the Choir & Orchestra of the J.S. Bach Foundation in order to realise the Foundation's ambitious project.
